Vehicle fees to rise $7.35

PA Wellington Motorists will face a $7.35 price increase when they relicense cars for $60.75 next month. The rise is because of a 50 per cent jump in the Accident Compensation Corporation fee. The annual licensing fee itself will not increase from last year’s $39, but the A.C.C. levy will rise from $14.20 to $21.55. Motor-cycles 61cc and over will cost $44.75—up from $37.40 because of the levy. A smaller A.C.C. increase means owners of motor-cycles 60cc and under will pay $2.60 more than last year—s22.Bo. Fees for heavy trucks will go up s7.3s—two-axle trucks from $92.40 to $99.75, threeaxle from $101.40 to $108.75, and trucks with four or more axles from $110.40 to $117.75. Relicensing a light trailer will cost the same as last year—s23.2o—because there is no A.C.C. levy. Announcing the fees, the Acting Minister of Transport, Mr Malcolm, said licensed transport services would pay the annual transport licensing fee at the same time as vehicle licensing fees. Previously transport licensing fees were paid direct to the Ministry on receipt of an account, he said. Vehicles can be relicensed from June 1 at Post Offices, and Mr Malcolm urged motorists to be early “and avoid the last-minute rush.”
