Katy Platt —born again
The Wellington actress, Katy Platt, will talk to Namio Trigg on “Credo” (One, 6 p.m. Sunday) about recent momentous events in her life. Known throughout New Zealand for her role as Raewyn in the Feltex Award-winning comedy series, “Gliding On,” Miss Platt is a born-again Christian who often has to reconcile her acting roles with her beliefs. She has played all sorts of roles, from a stripper who has to undress nightly on stage to a killer in prison who murders a fellow inmate, six nights a week for six weeks. At the same time, Katy Platt was developing her faith. Then, at the peak of her career and on the opening night of her new play at Wellington’s Circa Theatre, she was struck down by multiple sclerosis. The prognosis was not good. Then came an amazing remission, and Katy Platt has now begun to rebuild her life almost to the point where it was before she became ill.
‘On Line’ The secretary of the Electrical Workers’ Union, Mr Tony Neary, will be Rodney Bryant’s guest on the TV talkback programme, “On Line,” on One at 11.30 a.m. tomorrow. Violent crime Rape, one of the most violent, serious and puzzling crimes, is apparently increasing, but it seems there is no easy way to deal with it. Can the courts punish rape away? Are vigilante. groups part of the answer? Or should men start changing their attitudes towards women? On “Sunday” (One, 9.30 p.m. tomorrow) a studio discussion will include a rape victim, a lawyer and the Rev. Bob Scott, spokesman for men against rape. Helping rich? The Philippines get $BO million a year in Australian aid, but there is some suspicion that those aid dollars help the rich more than the poor. An A.B.C. report on ‘‘Foreign Correspondent” (Two, 7 p.m. today) investigates.
