TURNERS CAR AUCTIONS SELLS MAYORAL DAIMLER ‘SO W£X- ~ **®* ? * ty. '' ' - '■-■■JO Last week in Auckland the famou Waitemata City Council Daimler came under the auctioneers hammer at Turners Car Auctions. Mr Trevor Fromont of the Classic Limousine Company paid $28,600 for the Daimler, which will join his existing fleet of two Rolls Royces (one of which he purchased at Turners Car Auctions last year), two other Daimlers and a Bentley. The Waitemata City Council had previously put the Daimler up for tender, but the tenders they received were not as high as expected, so the Daimler was put up for auction at Turners Car Auctions to get the best possible price. Selling at auction turned out to be well worthwhile, as the Waitemata City Council received a cheque for $3OOO more than their highest tender. The 1975 Mayoral Daimler was one of 32 cars sold at the auction on Thursday. Included in the line up were a 1979 Holden Commodore SLE VB, a 1977 Jaguar XJS Series 2 and a 1982 Holden Commodore VHSLX 6 station wagon.
