Sudan denial Sudan has denied any part in a guerrilla attack at Tripoli. the Libyan capital, and accused Libya of planning an invasion of southern Sudan with hired mercenaries and rebels. The Sudan News Agency quoted a Foreign Ministry official as saying that Sudan had no links with the opposition in Libya and had had nothing to do with the attack. Libya has accused Sudan and Britain of training the guerrillas, who were killed by security forces. — Khartoum. Actor compensated Jack Nicholson, the actor, has accepted unspecified damages as settlement of a libel action against “The Sun” newspaper, which had alleged that he had “a string of drug busts.” Nicholson sued the mass circulation London paper over an article published in February. His lawyer told the High Court “the truth is that h|- has
never been arrested for drugs or any other offences, either in America or elsewhere.” — London. Airline sackings Three women employees of Iran Air in Paris have lost their jobs because they refused to wear a veil, according to one of them. The woman said that the company had sacked two Frenchmen at the same time in March “to hide the real reason” for its action. She said that Iran Air last year had told women employees reluctant to wear Islamic dress that “the economic success of the company was secondary, and that priority had been given to the aims of revolutionary Islamic ideology.” Only two employees at Iran Air’s Paris office, one British and one French, had conformed to the Islamic dress instruction. The case has been referred to the Industrial Conciliation Board. — Paris.
