Priest robbed at gunpoint
Christchurch police are seeking a man who robbed a Catholic priest at gunpoint in the city last evening. The offender knocked at the door of the St Joseph’s Presbytery, in Northcote, about 10.30 p.m., and demanded money. He was masked and carried a sawnoff .22 rifle. A “very small amount” of money was taken, a police spokesman said. He said that the Rev. T. R. Hunter was not physically hurt but was shaken by the incident. The police and C. 1.8. were still investigating early this morning. The offender was described as a young male about 160 cm (sft Bin) tall, wearing full denims, and carrying a yellow roundended sports bag. The police would like to hear from anyone who saw a man fitting that description last evening.
