Fewer videos seized
PA Wellington Tighter customs controls on imports of pornographic video tapes have resulted in a percentage reduction in the number seized, says the Minister of Customs, Mr Allen. During the first three months of this year 2834 tapes were viewed compared with 1735 tapes in the same period in 1983. Of the tapes examined, 2.8
per cent (80 tapes) were considered indecent For the same period last year, 3.1 per cent (54 tapes) were seized. Mr Allen said he believed the efforts of departmental officers were having an effect on the imported pornographic video tape trade. Efforts to restrict such material coming into New Zealand would be maintained, he said.
