Debt hope
Venezuela hoped to reach a basic agreement with its creditors to reschedule some SUSIS billion in foreign debts by the end of July, the chief debt negotiator, Carlos Guillermo Rangel, said. “This is a laborious process and we will probably have to extend the present payments moratorium at the end of July to finalise legal aspects and win acceptance from all creditors,” he said. Mr Rangel, who last week presented economic projections to foreign banks in New York, said, however, that he was optimistic that rescheduling negotiations with Venezuela’s 13-bank advisory committee would go smoothly.—Caracas.
