$75,000 top price
PA Hamilton The well-related two-year-old Gay Legs, fetched top price of $75,000 on the final day of Wrightson Bloodstock’s forty-fifth Waikato autumn sale at Claudelands yesterday. Offered as untried the grey filly was bought by Mr T. W. Crommelin, of Perth, from the filly’s breeder, Jim Chiongbian and Vic Johnson. She is a daughter of the former Irish sprinter. Three Legs, the sire of the outstanding fillies, Burletta and Hint, and the unraced Battle-Waggon mare. Gay Battle.
Her dam is a half-sister to the useful filly. Gay Sharon, the winner of the Desert Gold and Royal Stakes, and the stakespiaced First Sovereign, being from the stake-win-ning Sovereign Edition mare. Gay Sovereign. Gay Battle was sold for $40,000 to the Cambridge Stud on Thursday. Mr Crommelin was also the purchaser of the second, top priced offering a yearling filly by Vice Regal from the Mellay mare. Red Gae. Of the 166 lots offered yesterday, 134 sold for $557,600.
