$130,000 for Malt
PA Hamilton The recently formedvAllegra Park Stud at Cambridge went to $130,000 at Wrightson Bloodstock’s Waikato autumn sale in Hamilton yesterday to secure the broodmare, Malt. A five-year-old unraced mare, Malt is by Moss Trooper from Frill, a daughter of Agricola and the former outstanding racemare and broodmare, Froth (by Faux Tirage). Froth, one of the best racemares of her time, included in her 11 wins the Auckland Cup, the New Zealand Oaks and the Great Northern Oaks. The 1971 broodmare of the year, Froth’s progeny included besides Frill, Swift General, the winner of nine races including the South Australian St Leger, the Adelaide Cup winner Laelia and Agrifo, the winner of 20 races in Australia. Malt, which was offered for sale on account of Okawa Stud, Hastings, carried a positive pregnancy test to the outstanding sire Three Legs, whose progeny include the Wrightson filly of the year Burletta, and the top southern filly, Hint.
