Mr Peter Clarke, sales manager for P. and O. Duncan, Ltd, of Christchurch, with his company’s 734 Multi-Seeder, a triple-disc direct drilling machine. Since the first direct drill was introduced by Duncans in the mid-1970s they have been steady sellers in New Zealand. Now more than 100 units are sold each year in Australia, where the direct drill is being used for wheat, barley, oats, rice, and soya beans. The company also produces the 750 Till-Seeder, for pasture oversowing.
