Genestock under profit-taking

Rises outnumbered falls two to one, but the tone was steadier in busy trading on the New Zealand sharemarket yesterday. The NZUC industrial index gained only 0.26 points to close at 1382.25, compared with its 20.14 point increase on Wednesday. However, market leaders were still prominent in the rises. Fletcher Challenge, NZ Forest Products, New Zealand Steel, and Wattie firmed. Issues to ease included ANZ Banking Group, Feltex, New Zealand South British, and Yates. Genestock came under profit-taking, losing 5c to 145 c on its largest parcel, after trading from 140 c to 155 c. Allegra Park Stud, the new listing, rose a further 7c, but Leisureland, also an addition to the boards, fell 2c to 52c.
