He rose up and walked . . .

NZPA-AAP London A British doctor who stunned nuns when he walked away from a wheelchair after being blessed by the Pope has confessed that it had all been a mistake. Dr Jan Lavric told “The Sun” that he had been helping to organise a trip for disabled people to the Vatican to meet Pope John Paul 11. “I was tired and sat down in an empty wheelchair,” said Dr Lavric of Clayton,

near Doncaster. “Suddenly a nun wheeled me off, and before I could explain, the Pope blessed me. “I was so embarrassed I kept quiet” But when he jumped from the chair the nuns started shouting, “It’s a miracle!” Dr Lavric said that the Pope had appeared to be baffled after checking the doctor’s identity disc. “He looked at me in a strange way,” said the doctor.
