Young to attend seminar
Some 54 young people aged between 18 and 24 will attend the annual Rotary Youth Leadership Award seminar at St Andrew’s College in Christchurch next week.
Young people had been nominated by Rotary organisations in Nelson, Marlborough, the West Coast and Canterbury and the 54 were selected for the week-long seminar, which starts on May 6. Among the subjects that will be discussed in workshops and by guest speakers are community involvement, sport, environment, and the influence of the family and the media on people’s lives.
The theme for the seminar is “Knocking the Idols.”
Among the guest speakers are the All Black, Jock Hobbs, the member of Parliament for St Albans, Mr D. F. Caygill, the national women’s vice-presi-dent of the National Party and chairman of Waimairi District Council, Mrs Margaret Murray, and the theologian, Dr Lloyd Geering.
