Jet boat sales potential
PA Auckland New Zealand-built jet boats could soon be policing the lakes and rivers of Europe. After a successful demonstration of a luxury launch in Hungary, the Hamilton Jet company is building a $lOO,OOO craft for the Hungarian police.
A further four of the 9.8 m craft are likely to follow.
The businessman who helped clinch the deal, Mr Tibor Banfy, believes there could be a market for more than 200 jet boat sales to police and fire-fighting agencies on European rivers such as the Danube and Rhine.
With a top speed of 65km/h and good manoeuvrability, the boats were well suited to the work, said Mr Banfy.
