Wellington juniors win
The Canterbury junior squash team was comprehensively beaten by the Wellington juniors in their representative match at Wellington at the week-end. Wellington won the over-all contest by 32 matches to eight, with a 16 to four advantage in both boys’ and girls’ sections. Justine Marriott was Canterbury’s most successful player, winning three of her matches.
She beat Andrea Epson and Vicki Moles, but lost one match, 8-10, 2-9, 9-5, 9-2, 3-9, to Tracie Baldwin, of Nelson, after beating her 9-2, 2-9, 10-8, 10-8, the previous day. For the boys, Sean O’Brien won two matches and Clark Ellery one. The other girl to win a match was West Coast’s Sheryl Havill, who had a 3-0 win over Vicki Moles.
