‘Seven Brides’ 1980s style
“Seven Brides For Seven Brothers,” a new series beginning on Two tomorrow at 3.45 p.m., has been designed by the executive producer, David Gerber, to be a lively hour of family entertainment. Set in present-day California, the series bears little resemblance to its namesake predecessor, the 1954 musical, which was screened on Easter Monday. Gerber has contemporised the series so that the brothers face problems of today, not of the old West. The first episode is a special 90-minute presentation dealing with the events that take place after the oldest brother, Adam, marries the feisty Hannah Moss and brings her to the family home. There, the young couple have to cope with six young, rambunctious brothers as their housemates.
