Looking at robots
The science fiction picture of a robot is that of an all-knowing and extremely intelligent machine which can mimic human actions and more than match the human brain. Developments in technology are bringing us nearer to the day of the “intelligent” machine — one that can make decisions.
Tonight’s radio programme from the 8.8.C.’s series, “The Practical World” (National programme, 10.10 p.m.), will look at robots, at the state of the technology embodied in them, and at the constraints on their development.
