Tower blast
An explosion blew the legs off a 40 metre tower in West Germany carrying electricity to a controversial nuclear power plant and sent the tower crashing to the ground. The tower was carrying power to the uncompleted Brokdorft plant near the north German city of Kiel. The plant has been the target of protests by nuclear-power opponents and the police said they suspected the blast was “politically motivated.”—Kiel.
