Ambassador awaited
PA Wellington The New Zealand Ambassador to the Soviet Union, Miss Alison Stokes, will arrive in Moscow this week, but the Soviets have yet to name their Ambassador to Wellington. Though the New Zealand Government has been asked for and given its approval to the new Soviet Ambassador, his name has not been officially announced by the Soviet Union. >
The exchange of representatives at ambassador level this year is the first between New Zealand and the Soviet Union since 1980 when the Soviet Ambassador, Mr Vsevolod Sofinsky, was expelled for allegedly passing funds to the Socialist Unity Party.
