South Canty in golf upset
PA Timaru Otago’s chances of winning its first Stylemaster (formerly Russell Grace) golf title took a sharp turn for the better yesterday, thanks to the South Canterbury team. Otago and Waikato-King Country were two of the teams more favoured to take this year’s title at the Levels course near Timaru, but South Canterbury beat Waikato, 3 and 2, yesterday afternoon. Coast-Marlborough, 5-0, with the Otago No. 1, Jan Scandrett, justifying her selection in the New Zealand side with a 3 and 2 win over the former national representative Debbie Randell.
