Literary works
Literary sources are the subject of some of the woodcuts and etchings at present exhibited at the Gingko Gallery by Christchurch artist, Peter Ransom.
Mr Ransom, who graduated from the Fine Arts School at Ham in 1979 with printmaking honours, has drawn on works such as Emile Zola’s “Therese Raquin” and Mervyn Peake’s “Gormenghast” for some images. Five of the works are drawn from the latter and two from the former novel.
Nineteen works are included in the exhibition, which closes on May 10.
Peter Ransom has exhibited widely throughout New Zealand and has had three one-man shows at the Gingko. All of the works in his present exhibition were done between 1982 and 1984.
