Rugby potpourri
A number of boys from the Christ’s College First XV will be in august company when they play for the Cantabrians rugby club tomorrow in a match against Rathkeale College, Masterton.
Their team-mates will include such venerable characters as Fergie McCormick, who turned 45 this week, Alex Wyllie, Kerry Tanner and, perhaps, the most durable of all, John Creighton, who was an All Blacjk 22 years ago. Itgte because the Christ’s College sixth grade team
has a bye on Saturday that the Cantabrians have invited so many from the side.
The full Cantabrians squad for the game, which begins at St Andrew’s College at 3.15 p.m. is:
Backs: McCormick, M. Averill, D. Tudehope, T. Redfern, S. Cottrell (all four Christ’s College), N. Winter (Marist), J. Neilson (Suburbs), O. D. Bruce, G. Ellis (New Brighton). Forwards: Wyllie, J. Rowberry, Tanner, O. Rees (Belfast), S. Gray (Burnside), Creighton, M. Hastings, B. Todhunter, J. Quigley, R. McKellar, J. Botherw®p (the last five all Christ’s College).
