Iraq hard pressed
The group B leader, Qatar, plays the bottomplaced, Japan and Iraq meets Malaysia in the last matches of section play at the National Stadium tonight. Qatar should win and join Saudi Arabia as the automatic qualifier for Los Angeles. Iraq has a slightly harder task against an unpredictable Malaysian side.
A point would be enough to get Iraq into Sunday’s play-off against South Korea. 4 Ironically, of the three teams most favoured to win Olympic places, Kuwait New Zealand and Iraq, only the latter now has any chance. Against the spirited Koreans, Iraq will be hard pressed to make it by the long route anyway.
