Haub denies sale to N.S.W.

PA Auckland A part-owner of McGinty. Mr Keith Haub. yesterday denied an Australian report that the horse had already been sold to a New South Wales stud. In fact. Mr Haub said. McGinty is booked to be flown home ’ from Australia tomorrow.

McGinty, he said, had become fresh again and, in view of the prolonged negotiations for his sale, it was thought the horse would be safer in his home stable where he would be further “let down." Mr Haub had been asked to comment on a Sunday newspaper report in Sydney, that McGinty had been sold'to the Woodlands Stud, in the Hunter Valley.

Woodlands, it seems, had been in the market for the horse, but no deal was completed.

Mr Haub said that when McGinty returned there would be a greater chance of his being retained for breeding in New Zealand, although strong inquiries were continuing from overseas, including Australia.
