Mr Peter Martin has been appointed chief executive of the Countrywide Building Society, with effect from the end of May. Mr Martin, aged 47, has been with Feltex New Zealand Ltd, for nine years. He has been a member of the Feltex executive board, a director of Feltex Finance, Ltd, and of Property Makers (NZ), Ltd, and managing director of Industrial Park Holdings, Ltd.
Mr Martin was for two years a director of the Accounting Board of Standards and Research. Before joining Feltex he was nine years with the Inland Revenue Department, five years with the Commonwealth Development Corporation, and six years with N.Z. Steel, Ltd. Mr Ross Mclnnes, who joined the building society in 1958 has been managing director since 1974. Upon his forthcoming retirement he will continue as a director on the board.
