Aust, asks China for panda
NZPA-AAP Canberra Australia has asked China for two pandas as a present for its bicentenary in 1988.
The Minister of the Environment and Conservation, Mr Barry Cohen, visiting China, said he had made the request because he could think of nothing that Australians would like more from China.
“The panda is a beautiful, lovable creature. It is very very rare; only a few countries have got it,” Mr Cohen said.
