'City of Varieties’

The lights dim, the overture is played, the spotlight flashes on the Master of Ceremonies — Music Hall has returned to Christchurch.

The Christchurch Theatre workshop will bring music hall entertainment back to the city from Saturday. The “City of Varieties” show

will play for one week. The audience has been invited to participate in the atmosphere of the show by dressing up in period costume. The show has been

organised by Liz Robinson, John Seymour and Ron Bell at the State Trinity Theatre. A special charity performance of “City of Varie-

ties” will be played on Sunday evening. The Cardiac Companions will benefit from the show.

The evening will fature music, arranged by Bill Gilray, and dance, with choreography by Jean Jones, and prizes for the best dressed couple in the audience.
