C. Roberts fined $200
PA Invercargill The Gore apprentice jockey, Chris Roberts, was fined $2OO on a misconduct charge at Riverton Racing Club’s Easter carnival yesterday, and was later fined $75 for careless riding. Roberts was found guilty on a charge of allowing a cousin to use his apprentice jockey’s badge to gain admission to the jockeys’ room.
Roberts was fined for careless riding on Lord Killarney in the final race, the Presidents Handicap. He was found to have allowed his mount to shift ground outwards when not sufficiently clear, checking Imperial Girl (J. Collett) whose chances were affected. Lord Killarney was demoted to fifth and Imperial Girl was promoted to fourth.
