N.Z. judge on Privy Council
PA Wellington New Zealand will have a representative on the judicial committee of the Privy Council when it meets in London this summer for hearing appeals. Sir Robin Cooke, senior judge on the New Zealand Court of Appeal after the president, Sir Owen Woodhouse, will attend. Sir Owen was New Zealand’s last representative on the Privy Council, about three years ago. Permanent judges on the Court of Appeal are all appointed members of the Privy Council, and from time to time senior members sit on its judicial committee for a term of the two-month sitting. Sir Robin and his wife will leave Wellington next month and will return in August.
