Stuffed
snake ban NZPA-AAP Melbourne The Victorian government has permanently banned stuffed venomous snakes, saying that they are considered a risk even though they are dead. The State Minister of Consumer Affairs, Mr Peter Spyker, said that the ban was on stuffed venomous snakes which had not had their venom glands, ducts, and fangs removed. “It has been found that the venom in the snakes’ glands, although dehydrated, remains active indefinitely and it is feared that young children playing with the snakes could be poisoned,” Mr Spyker said.
