Intruders blast hole in house
PA Auckland Two masked men, one with a gun, on Saturday evening burst into a house owned by Bruce Cameron, who is charged with threatening to set off nerve gas canisters, the police said. They blasted a hole in a wall of the house after threatening Cameron’s former de facto wife and a man living there. The men, one with a double-barrelled shotgun, burst into the house in Sussex Street, Grey Lynn, about 11.30 p.m.
Detectives are believed to have spoken to Cameron in prison yesterday in connection with the incident.
He is in custody on remand on a charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice by threatening to release nerve gas canisters unless two drugs
charges against him were dropped. He is also charged with escaping from custody.
A national hunt was launched for Cameron in February after he allegedly threatened to set off nerve gas canisters. He was recaptured in Christchurch on March 2 after escaping from Oakley Hospital 10 days before.
