Jacobs wins Asian golf
NZPA-AFP Tokyo An American, John Jacobs, winner of the Taiwan Open earlier this month, fired an even par 72 yesterday for a four-round total of 283 and won the 45 million yen (5NZ304.000) Dunlop Open golf tournament, the last leg of this year’s Asian circuit. Jacobs, aged 29, scored five birdies against as many bogeys on the 6404 m, par 72 Ibaraki Country Club course on the north-eastern outskirts of Tokyo. Japan’s Takeo Ozaki was second with a 285, a three under par, after returning a four-under-par 68 in the final round yesterday. The winner’s purse was eight million yen (5NZ54.043) and that for the runrijß’-up 4.5 million yen (5NZ30,400).
