On the ground is Charlie Hunter, the driver of Tucker’s Rule. Bob Cameron tries to restrain Slugger (No. 8). Avoiding the accident are Kanturk (inside) and Lord Louie (No. 15). BOTTOM: Fletcher is catapulted clear. The driver on the inside now is John Langdon (Maltese cross). Langdon’s horse, King Alba, broke before the start and was late arriving on the scene. He too, was put out of the race when Langdon’s cart clipped a fallen horse.
