Curry retains title
NZPA-Reuter Fort Worth, Texas Donald Curry retained his World Boxing Association welterweight championship in Ford Worth at the week-end when Elio Diaz, of Venezuela, refused to answer the bell at the start of the eighth round of their scheduled 15-round bout. Diaz was knocked down three times and was bleeding from a cut on the lip when he decided he had had enough. “I heard the bell for the eighth round but I couldn’t do nothing and didn’t want to get hurt,” Diaz said.
