Award to Aucklander
“Tomorrow’s Habitat,” a New Zealand competition for architects aged under 35 to design a dwelling for the future, has been won by Mr Rewi Thompson, of Auckland. His entry embodied a whanau and kohanga model for an extended Maori family living in an urban area. The competition, organised by the New Zealand Institute of Architects and sponsored by the Chase Corporation, is part of an inter-
national event co-ordinated by U.N.E.S.C.O. Mr Thompson’s design, together with four other award-winning entries from New Zealand architects, will be sent to U.N.E.C.S.O. headquarters in Paris where they will be judged against those from other participating Countries. The 10 best will then be displayed at the Tsukuba Exposition in Japan next year.
