Cheap group rail fares
PA Wellington The Railways is offering cheap group and week-end travel across Cook Strait from May 1. group saver scheme. With the combined travel, groups of six to 10 adults will then get a 10 per cent discount on the ferry fare, while groups of 11 to 20 adults will save 20 per cent. Bigger groups will get a 25 per cent fare reduction, said the corporation’s director of shipping, Mr A. J. Mills. end saver for passengers with private motor-vehicles. Passengers travelling on or between the first sailing on Fridays and the last sailing on Mondays will get a 30 per cent discount on their motor-vehicle fares, but reservations for the week-end saver cannot be made more than 14 days before travel. The week-end saver for motor-vehicles will be sold only at Railway booking offices, the Government Tourist Bureau and accredited travel agents, but not all rail ferry terminals.
