This section Is responsible for managing and operating the D.SJ.R. National Computer Network, which consists of four DEC VAX-11/780 computer systems linked by a communicatings network running on DEC PDP-11/04 and PDP-11/34 mini-computers, using D.SJ.R designed communications software. The communications network is also connected to two major 1.8. M. computer installations in Wellington. SCIENTIST-IN-CHARGE AUCKLAND This position Involves the day-to-day management of the Auckland regional centre of the D.SJ.R. National Computer Network. Duties include management of the Auckland VAX-11/780 computer system and supervision of the VAX operator and the applications programmer. Local user education and liaison and software development, especially where related to local campus projects. Qualifications: An Honours Degree in Science or Engineering with some computer science content Salary: Up to $25,684 p.a. depending on quallfiactions and experience.
