Situations Vacant Situations Vacant COMMUNICATIONS TECHNICIANS NZ FIRE SERVICE CHRISTCHURCH (TEMPORARY APPOINTMENT) THE POSITION A temporary vacancy has arisen for a Communications Technician to assist the Supervising Regional Communications Technician at Region HQ for a period of about six months. It is likely that a permanent appointment will be made at the end of that time, and the successful applicant would be eligible to apply. EXPERIENCE A practical knowledge of alarm systems Involving Post Office leased circuitry, digital signalling and radio comunications Is necessary. Familiarity with modern communications and control room systems and procedures would be advantageous. EDUCATION NZCE in appropriate disciplines or significant progress towards this qualification Is regarded as the minimum educational requirement for this post THE TASK The Region covers that part of the South Island which reaches north from Fox Glacier in the west and Glenavy In the east, and the purpose of the appointment Is to assist the Supervising Technician In updating and maintaining all N.Z. Fire Service communications facilities In that area. Some travel will therefore be required. REMUNERATION The remuneration celling envisaged Is $19,394 and an appointment up to this level will be made depending on the educational standard and experience of the successful applicant.
