Mrs Audrey Cossins, of the Christchurch City Council’s housing and property office, with some of the 130 heaters that have been collected for needy families by the Christchurch North Lions Club. They are being collected for the Mayor’s Welfare Fund, which in previous years had distributed blankets. The heater appeal was to have ended on April 16, but the response has been so good that it will continue until after Easter. The heaters will be checked by the Municipal Electricity Department before being distributed.
