Master Mood will be in demand at Addington
By
G. K. YULE
Master Mood should take another step towards establishing himself as the top two-year-old of the season when he contests the Welcome Stakes, first leg of the T.A.B. treble at the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s meeting at Addington Raceway today.
At his latest start on April 7 he created a national race record for a mobile mile in Imin 59.5 s at Washdyke. The son of Noodlum has tremendous speed and stamina and, although he has nine winners among ■ his rivals, it would seem as though only bad luck will stop him continuing on his winning way, which will lead him towards the 5100,000 Image International Final at Alexandra Park next month. Good To Win could be the one most likely to trouble Master Mood. He looked desperately unlucky when he finished fourth to Loveridge on April 14. That race is certain to have improved him and he could well put the probable favourite to the test. Samson created a good impression when he broke through for his initial success on April 4. He has shown plenty of ability and could be as good as any of the others. However, he will have to get away on terms with his rivals in this starstudded field. Nardinski, Loveridge, Westburn King and Woodsey will all have their admirers,
as will the two southern challengers, Malaz and Bold Guest. Malaz in particular looks to be well above average in ability. In spite of his awkward second-line draw, he could prove to be one of
the better chances. The Firestone Eurosteel Trotting Championship and the Chateau Regency Pace are the other legs of this treble. Sir Castleton will prob-
ably be favourite for the middle leg, while Delark, so impressive when she was successful last Saturday, will be a popular fancy in the final leg.
