Zola Budd (pictured), the young South African runner who has been granted British citizenship to allow her to compete internationally, betters the Olympic qualifying time for the 3000 m in
her first race in Britain, held at Dartford, England, NZPA reports. Budd, aged 17, running for her new club Aidershot and Farnham on Saturday won easily in 9min 2.65, 2.4 s
inside the Olympic qualifying time. Afterwards Budd, who was wearing running shoes for the first time on the cinder track, said she had not felt in any difficulty.
