NZPA-Reuter Paris A composite rugby league team from Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea (Oceania) crushed an Anglo-French select team, 544, in Paris yesterday. The match was staged at
the Vincennes Stadium to mark the jubilee of French rugby league. The score accurately reflected the vast difference between the two sides, with the Europeans scoring only one try against Oceania’s 11. The match quickly devel-
oped into a solo demonstration of strong, incisive play by the southerners who were far superior in every department, notably in their handling. In spite of the warm spring sunshine the event attracted only about 1000 spectators.
