NZPA-Reuter Sydney Industrial prices finished strongly on the Australian stock market yesterday with much buying attributed to brokers wishing to offer the stock in London and New York overnight. The all-ordinaries index was up 2.2 at 764.0. The allindustrials rose 4.5 to 989.8 and the all- resources 0.6 to 584.3. BHP closed 5c up at 1430 c in Sydney and 1435 c in Melbourne. Metals were mixed with CRA up 2c at 620 c, MIM fell 3c to 370 c while WMC at 430 c and Bougainville at 272 c were 2c down. EZ Industries rose 8c to 538 c and Seitrust 7c to 108 c. The lower gold price weakened gold stocks with CNG at 600 c and Peko 530 c both down 10c while Emperor at 405 c and Poseidon 495 c fell sc. CSR fell 2c to 383 c. Santos added 8c to 706 c on still unfulfilled demand from London. Most Eclipse oil well partners eased ahead as it neared its zone of interest. Coals were mixed. Uraniums firmed with ERA up 3c to 153 c. Westpac fell 4c to 385 c while ANZ closed steady at 562 c. Elders-IXL fell 2c to 398 c.
