Masport to go public
PA Auckland Mason and Porter, Ltd, best known for its Masport motor-mowers, yesterday announced it would go public later this year. The chairman, Mr L. E. G. Richardson, said that after 74 years of family ownership the company had decided to seek public listing for a percentage of the group’s issued capital. Masport planned further expansions for which a pub-
lie structure was seen as more appropriate, Mr Richardson said. The board had appointed South Pacific Merchant Finance, Ltd, financial advisers and managers to the issue. Further details would be announced later this year.
The announcement was made at the commissioning of new plant which will be used to make continuous, double-burning, wood fires.
