Astronomer dies at 86
NZPA New York Dr Theadore Dunham, an astronomer who discovered that the atmosphere of Venus contained a large amount of carbon dioxide, died on April 3 at his home on Chocorua, New Hampshire. He was 86. Dr Dunham’s discovery, which he shared with W. S. Adams, was made in 1932 and disproved years of speculation that the Venusian atmosphere was similar to Earth’s.
