A three-bedroom cottage with sleep-out in Hanmer Springs was passed in at auction on April 7 for $39,000. It has a G.V. (1980) of $19,000 and rents for $3O a night in the holiday season. The property stands on a section capable of sub-divi-sion. Mr Don Peebles of Mercer Real Estate was the auctioneer. Thirty people attended the auction. A private sale is being negotiated. A one-bedroom retirement home at 20 Clare Road in St Albans, was passed in at auction on April 12 for $49,000 but a promising cash offer was made immediately afterward and negotiations entered into. The property, with electronic facilities and intercom to both front and back doors, has a G.V. (1979) of $20,000. The dining room and lounge are separate. Mr Phil Alexander of Sherris and Robertson, Ltd was the auctioneer.
