Air fare rise in Australia
NZPA-AAP Sydney Australian domestic air fares rose 2 per cent from midnight on April 1. This comes after a substantial air fare review conducted by the Independent Air Fares Committee. The two main airlines, Ansett and T.A.A., said the
new tariffs covered cost increases. However, they did not apply to air services run by Fokker Friendship F 27 aircraft. The basic Sydney to Melbourne fare rose $2.70 to $136 and the Sydney-Bris-bane fare rose $2.80 dollars to $140.70.
