The lines of Lion New Zealand are revealed as she is lifted out of her Auckland boatshed and turned right-side-up. The craft, New Zealand’s main hope for victory in the Whitbread around-the-world yacht race, is due to be launched on November 1. Work will begin this week on stripping the timber mould, and fitting the internal joinery and hardware. The deck will be fitted in September. Her first race will be the Sydney-Hobart classic which will start on Boxing Day. The Whitbread race will begin in Portsmouth on September 28, 1985.
