NZPA-Reuter London A 600-year-old Ming vase fetched £390,000 (5846,300) at an auction in London
yesterday after leading a secret life in a Scottish home as the base of a tablelamp.
A Singapore industrialist, Jack Chia, who collects fourteenth century Chinese porcelain, bought the pearshaped vase with a rare copper-coloured glaze for almost double the expected price..
The owners, a couple in their thirties who asked to remain anonymous, inherited the lamp from an uncle who bought it from a Glasgow antique dealer for £4O in 1940.
