lan Botham banned
NZPA-PA London The England cricketer, lan Botham, aged 28, was yesterday banned from driving for four weeks after he admitted driving at 160 km/h on a motorway in Gloucestershire. It was Botham’s second appearance in court in two years for speeding on the motorway, said Mr Edward Price, the chairman of Whitminster Magistrate’s Court, in Glou-
cester. The Somerset Cricket Club captain was fined £llO ($238) and his licence was endorsed with three penalty points. Magistrates imposed the ban in spite of a plea from Botham’s solicitor, Mr Alan Herd, that the loss of his licence could create difficulties for the much-travelled cricketer, who is in his testimonial benefit year.
